How do I reach Pailaag Stay from Delhi or Dehradun?
You have several convenient options to reach us:
• Direct Taxi: You can hire a direct taxi from Delhi or Dehradun to Kapkote.
• Direct Bus: There are direct buses available from Delhi to Kapkote.
• Via Haldwani/Kathgodam: You can take a train or bus to Haldwani or Kathgodam. From there, you can easily catch a bus or hire a direct private/shared taxi to Kapkote.
What is the nearest airport to Pailaag Stay?
You have three main airport options depending on your travel plans:
• Pantnagar Airport (PGH): The closest domestic airport, located about 190 km away (a 6-7 hour drive).
• Dehradun Airport (Jolly Grant - DED): Approximately 310 km away. The drive takes about 10-12 hours through a beautiful mountain route.
• New Delhi Airport (IGI - DEL): Approximately 410 km away. From Delhi, guests usually hire a direct taxi (12-14 hours) or take an overnight train to Kathgodam, then a taxi to Kapkote.

Yes, absolutely! Once your booking is confirmed, our team can help arrange a trusted local taxi for your pick-up and drop-off, or guide you with the exact bus routes and timings to make your journey hassle-free.
How far is the stay from Kapkote, and what is the road condition?
The estate is located approximately 10 km from the main Kapkote market. The road is good, scenic, and curvy—a typical mountain route that is perfectly safe and easily accessible for regular sedan cars all the way to the property.
What are the check-in and check-out timings?
Our standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. If you need an early check-in or late check-out, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate it based on availability.
Do you serve food? Is there a fixed menu and do you serve non-veg?
Yes, we serve freshly prepared, home-cooked meals! We operate on a fixed daily menu featuring authentic Kumaoni dishes and delicious North Indian cuisine.
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. Since we cook everything fresh using local, organic ingredients from our kitchen garden, we request guests to let us know their meal preferences (including non-veg) in advance.
What is the guest capacity per room?
Each of our 4 rooms comfortably accommodates 2 adults as a standard. However, our rooms are spacious enough that we can provide extra mattresses upon request if you are traveling with additional guests or children.
What is the weather like, and what clothes should I pack?
Because Pailaag Stay is situated on a hilltop, the weather is always cooler than the valleys below.
• In Summer: You will enjoy a refreshing cold breeze throughout the day, so packing light woolens for the evening is recommended.
• In Winter: Temperatures can drop to negative degrees (-°C). Please pack heavy winter wear, thermals, and thick jackets to stay cozy!
What kind of views can we expect from the property?
The views are spectacular from every angle!
• From your Room: You will enjoy beautiful valley views, mountain ranges, and direct sunset views right from your window.
• From the Outdoors & Dining Area: Step outside to experience a wide, sweeping panorama of the valley and majestic Kumaon Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nanda Kot, and Panchachuli.
What activities and experiences can we do around the property?
There is plenty to do! You can enjoy guided forest treks, relaxing riverside picnics, incredible birdwatching, or immersive village walks. For a slower pace, you can practice yoga in our outdoor spaces, read a book under the sun, or simply unwind with a cup of mountain tea while admiring the Himalayan views.

Pailaag Stay is a trekker's paradise! We offer access to everything from easy day hikes to major Himalayan basecamps.

• Shikhar Temple Trek: 40-minute drive to the starting point

• Pindari Glacier Trek: 2-hour drive to the base
• Sunderdhunga Glacier Trek: 2-hour drive to the base

Is there a river nearby for picnics or relaxation?
Yes! The beautiful, pristine Sarju and Kheer ganga Rivers flows through the Kapkote valley. We can guide you to serene, untouched spots along the riverside that are perfect for a peaceful afternoon picnic, dipping your feet in the water, or quiet meditation.
Are there any trekking or hiking trails near the homestay?
Kapkote is a paradise for nature lovers and trekkers. We offer access to several local village trails and dense pine forest walks right from our doorstep. For more adventurous souls, Kapkote also serves as the gateway and base camp for the famous Pindari, Kafni, and Sunderdhunga Glacier treks.
Is the property suitable for yoga, meditation, and wellness retreats?
Absolutely. The natural tranquility, absolute silence, pure mountain air, and panoramic views make Pailaag Stay a perfect sanctuary for wellness. You can roll out your mat in our open grounds, practice yoga at sunrise, or find a quiet corner in the kitchen garden to connect with nature.
Which mobile networks work best at the property?
Jio, VI and Airtel networks generally work well at our homestay for regular calls and 4G data. However, since we are in the mountains, network fluctuations can happen. That is why we provide reliable high-speed Wi-Fi to keep you connected!
Are there frequent power cuts? Do you have power backup?
Like most authentic mountain villages, Kapkote does experience occasional power cuts, especially during heavy rains or snow. We have a reliable power backup system to keep the lights on and the Wi-Fi running so your work or comfort is not interrupted.
Do you provide room heaters during the winter?
Winters here are beautiful but chilly! We provide thick, premium blankets and hot water bottles to keep you warm. Room heaters can also be provided upon request.
Is the Wi-Fi good enough for remote work?
Yes, we provide reliable Wi-Fi across the property. With dedicated work desks in the rooms and serene outdoor spaces, it is an ideal setup for a productive 'Work from Mountains' retreat.
Are there ATMs nearby? Should we carry cash?
We highly recommend carrying sufficient cash before you travel up the mountains. While digital payments (UPI) work at our property, neatest ATMs in Kapkote town (10 km away)
Are there medical facilities or pharmacies nearby?
We keep a basic first-aid kit at the property. However, the nearest pharmacy and hospital are located in Kapkote main market (10 km away). We strongly advise all guests to carry their personal and prescription medicines with them.
Are pets allowed?
We are huge animal lovers and have four friendly resident dogs—Jimmy, Julie, Leo and Bobby—who love welcoming guests! However, to ensure harmony and comfort for everyone, please contact us directly to discuss our pet policy before making a booking.
Is parking available at the homestay?
Yes, safe and secure parking is available right at the property for your vehicles.
Can we book the entire stone house?
Yes! You can reserve individual rooms, or you can book all 4 rooms to reserve the entire estate for a private family gathering, retreat, or group trip. Reach out to our team via WhatsApp to discuss full-house bookings.
